Aloo Paratha – Stuffed Indian Potato Flatbread

Aloo Paratha is a classic Indian breakfast that combines spicy mashed potatoes with soft whole wheat dough. It’s a comforting dish often served with butter, curd, and pickle—perfect for mornings or lazy brunches.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 3 medium potatoes (boiled & mashed)
  • 1 green chili (finely chopped)
  • ½ tsp red chili powder
  • ½ tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves (finely chopped)
  • Ghee or oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Dough: Knead the flour using water into a soft dough. Cover and rest for 20 minutes.
  2. Stuffing: In a bowl, mix mashed potatoes with chili, ginger, coriander, salt, and spices.
  3. Stuff & Roll: Take a dough ball, flatten it, add stuffing in the center, and seal the edges. Gently roll it into a flat round paratha.
  4. Cook: Heat a tawa, cook the paratha on both sides with ghee until golden spots appear.
  5. Serve hot with curd and pickle.

Tips

  • Use warm water for softer dough.
  • Mash potatoes well to avoid tearing while rolling.
