Aloo Paratha is a classic Indian breakfast that combines spicy mashed potatoes with soft whole wheat dough. It’s a comforting dish often served with butter, curd, and pickle—perfect for mornings or lazy brunches.
Ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 3 medium potatoes (boiled & mashed)
- 1 green chili (finely chopped)
- ½ tsp red chili powder
- ½ tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp coriander leaves (finely chopped)
- Ghee or oil for frying
Instructions
- Dough: Knead the flour using water into a soft dough. Cover and rest for 20 minutes.
- Stuffing: In a bowl, mix mashed potatoes with chili, ginger, coriander, salt, and spices.
- Stuff & Roll: Take a dough ball, flatten it, add stuffing in the center, and seal the edges. Gently roll it into a flat round paratha.
- Cook: Heat a tawa, cook the paratha on both sides with ghee until golden spots appear.
- Serve hot with curd and pickle.
Tips
- Use warm water for softer dough.
- Mash potatoes well to avoid tearing while rolling.
