Chole, also known as Chickpea Curry, is a spicy and tangy North Indian dish that is extremely popular for lunch. Served with rice or bhature, this dish is hearty and full of flavor, making it a family favorite.
Ingredients
- 1 cup chickpeas (soaked overnight)
- 2 onions (chopped)
- 2 tomatoes (pureed)
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 2 green chilies
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 2 tbsp oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander
Instructions
- Pressure cook soaked chickpeas till soft.
- Heat oil, add cumin seeds and green chilies.
- Add chopped onions and sauté till golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and cook.
- Add tomato puree and all spices. Cook until oil separates.
- Add chickpeas and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
- Garnish with coriander and serve.
