Ingredients
- 1 cup toor dal (split pigeon peas)
- 1 onion (chopped)
- 1 tomato (chopped)
- 1 green chili (slit)
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 2 dried red chilies
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 2 tbsp ghee or oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander
Instructions
- Wash dal and pressure cook with turmeric and water till soft.
- Heat ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds and red chilies.
- Add chopped onion, sauté until golden.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and cook.
- Add tomatoes and green chili, cook until soft.
- Add red chili powder and salt. Mix well.
- Pour in the cooked dal and simmer for 5-7 minutes.
- Garnish with coriander and serve hot.
